DRS announces new General Manager for education sector business

Education expert, Sid Spalding has been named as DRS’ new General Manager for Education, with an immediate start.

After five years at DRS as Senior Account Manager within the education sales team, Spalding’s promotion will see him head up the education sales team, with an aim to expand the product offering whilst continuing to grow the e-Marker® business in the UK.

The role becomes available as Martyn Roan moves into the position of Senior Education Executive, to concentrate on special projects and DRS’ largest education client, AQA.  With 20 years' data capture experience and 15 years with DRS, Roan has significantly contributed to DRS’ growth in the education sector.

Commenting on his new role, Spalding said: “I am hugely excited by this new role which comes at an exciting time in both DRS’ growth and the UK education landscape.  Whether reducing the administrative burden on an establishment, improving the accuracy and reliability of its examination and assessment data, or helping to evaluate student retention with real-time and accurate attendance data, DRS plays a key role across education.”

Moving from another part of the business, Sarah Archer has joined the education sales team, as Sales Executive, focussing on the schools marketplace.

Samantha Jones has also transferred to the education sales team, after seven years at DRS, most recently as Global Business Leader for Elections.

Education remains the single biggest part of DRS’ business and is expected to represent a high proportion of its turnover in 2011.
